I am retired form the  State University System of New York.  I recently expanded my store in the lwemporium.com, a co-op  locate in Ontario, New York.  The town  is very old, and actually has a  cemtery dedicatd to fallen Revoluntary soldiers.  I sell American, hand-crafted primitative furniture and colonial lighting. 

When I was a very little girl, even before I started school, I set a table up in my front yard and had my mommy make a sign...so I could sell my prized possessions.  After I got a little older, I set up a lemondade/Kool-Aid stand out on the curb, close to the road, to offer passer-by's a refreshing drink.  I'm not sure why, but retail has always been in my blood.  I've owned many successful specialty retail shops in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas.  I loved being a manager, buyer, employer and the head of display...it was a delightful time for most of my adult life.  Then specialty retail began to change in the Pittsburgh area...Big box stores took over in the areas where only independent retiailers only thrived.  Concurrently, I got sick, so I decided to take a break, but I have never been able to get retail out of my system.  Now I not only work as a small business/specialty retail consultant, but also have started selling on the Internet.  I've found a new avenue...reaching the masses globally.  As a specialty retailer, I sold to people around the globe. Business traffic that came to Pittsburgh for seminars, training and even work, supported my shops and I shipped globally.  The complexion of retail has changed...especially in the independent arena. I've gone with the flow.

Outside of my passion for specialty retail, I also love Basset Hounds, and after the sudden passing of one of my hounds in 2005, I decided to foster senior Bassets that had been abandoned...and the first fellow to come to me was riddled with health issues, so from that point forward, I've opened my heart to ailing seniors.  They are far less likely to ever get adopted, yet they are in dire need of tenderness, love and being cared for well.  The above photo is one of the hounds that came to me in the spring of 2008....I lost him in July of 2010 to Lymphoma, but he was treasured and cared for well the last couple years of his life. I put my heart and soul into everything I do 110% and then some. : )  Retail is no exception!!
